It had been a nervous wait for Korea after their shock loss to Bahrain, but a 1-0 victory has ensured that the Koreans, one of the pre-tournament favourites, are through to the quarter-finals.
The Koreans booked their place in the quarters after a 1-0 victory over Indonesia at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. The goal came on 34 minutes, when Kim Jung-woo shot through the wall from the edge of the area, deflecting past the keeper and into the Indonesian net. The hosts came out breathing fire in the second half, desperately searching for an equaliser, but it was not to come.
Meanwhile in Palambang, Saudi Arabia ensured they would finish top of Group D with a convincing 4-0 victory over Bahrain. Saudi Arabia and Korea's opponents will be known later this evening after the final round of Group C matches are played.
Saturday night will see the first quarter-final matches. Of particular interest will be the match in Hanoi where Australia will take on Japan.

Saudi Arabia 4 (Ahmed Al Mousa 18, Abdulrahman Al Qahtani 45, Taiseer Al Jassam 68,79) d Bahrain 0
