In Asian Cup action on Saturday, Uzbekistan bounced back from a 2-1 first-up defeat to Iran when they trounced hosts Malaysia 5-0 in Kuala Lumpur. It only took 10 minutes for Maksim Shatskikh to score with a header, and from there the flow of the game continued unchecked. It was a disappointing performance from Malaysia, who remain last in Group C, but this was Uzbekistan's day and sets them up with a great chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
An injury-time header to Saad Al Harthi gave Saudi Arabia a 2-1 victory over Indonesia in Jakarta. It was a disappointment to the massive pro-Indonesian crowd; but it's a result that took the Saudis to the top of Group D and in the box seat to qualify for the quarter-finals.
