If I were a betting man, I'm show i could have got about even odds for either team on before the start of Friday nights thrilling clash. Both sides coming off good round 1 performances and ready for action, with both of their respective 'power fowards' looming large. This one was set to be am absolute epic. Chill the drinks, warm the pies, grab the remote and relax
Bradshaw got things rolling for the lions, with a nice snap and goal from the pocket and the 1st quarter was set to be a good back and forth battle. In the final few minutes Travis Cloke kicked truly (for once) and the margin was just two points....GAME ON
The second continued to impress. With the possession maybe slightly in Brisbane's favor, the game kept bringing goal. The 70m odd drop punt from Josh Drummond was one of the best. However Didak push the bar even higher, with his miraculous crumbing, fade away, snap in the pocket cutting the margin to 11 as they walked down the race for the halftime interval the momentum was probably with the Lions.
This was not the case however in third term. Though the home side had the first goal of the term, the Pies arched their backs and ran like hell. With the standouts being Didak and Rocca up from the Maggies look set to overrun a tiring opposition and, for all the smart money win the game
Bang Bang went Power and then Medhurst and the margin was back where it started. Then through Power began to show his name sake in a performance that probably one him 3 votes. The goals game from Corey and Brown and the Pride of Lions proved to viscous, nudging their way ahead of a beaten Collingwood.
We should know by now though that any team with Lethal Leigh Mathew in their corner is always a chance to press on and overcome adversity, as his charges did in a third quarter that will stick in the mind of both Collingwood and Brisbane supporters all week long. Not just for the football but the some of the umpiring as well. As Mick Malthouse so graciously pointed out in the post match press conference.
Say what you want about the men with the whistles at their mouths, but at the end of the day the final score read Brisbane 96 Collingwood 94. Who knows, in that last quarter the game could have gone either way...In fact I wish I had a few bob on rhe Lions.
Collingwould, Collingcould, Colling probably should bit they didn't
