‘Flying Eagles will be African champions’

Defeated Mauritius have tipped Nigeria to be crowned champions of Africa next year in Libya, just as the Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh, has insisted his team is not yet the finished article.
Nigeria have won the Under-20 tournament a record five times and Dorasami will bank on them to make it conquest number six in Libya in March.
“Your boys have great skills, strong and highly talented. I think they are sure bet to win the 2011 Africa Youth Championship in Libya. They are a very strong side,” Dorasami said.
“We have learnt a lot from the Nigerian team. They are a quality side, possess a strong attack, solid in the midfield and good in the defence too. They are fitter than my boys.
“We don’t have professionals in Mauritius. The boys go to school and only train twice or thrice a week. Now we have to go back and learn what we have acquired from you people and we are very happy to be here.”
The Mauritius coach argued that his team, who shocked Zambia out of the competit-ion in the previous round, lost out to Nigeria after they fell 2-0 in the first leg qualifier in Port Louis.
“We lost the AYC qualification ticket at home in Mauritius because we conceded two goals when we ought to have taken our home advantage. So, it was very difficult to come to Nigeria in search of a victory,” he said.
However, his Nigerian counterpart, John Obuh, picked holes in the performance of his team made up of players from last year's FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
