Yes, Iraq does have a weapon of mass destruction - its football team. And wild celebrations are taking place in Baghdad, after Iraq made it through to the Asian Cup final after a penalty shootout against Korea.
It's been a tough several years for the Iraqi people. Anarchy raging the streets, insurgents everywhere, no sign of any form of political or social stability, food and energy rationing. But tonight the Iraqi people have reason to be proud; thanks to another giant-killing football performance.
Another 30 minutes were ordered, but that too failed to break the deadlock. And so it went to the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
Each side slotted home their first 3 shots. Korea's Yeom Ki Hun then made the critical mistake; kicking wide of the net. Ahmed Abbas stepped up to the spot and calmly slotted it home, giving Iraq a 4-3 lead. So the pressure was on Korea's Kim Jung Woo, who needed to score to keep it alive - but agonisingly for the Koreans his shot his the cross-bar. Iraq had taken out the shoot-out, and are through to Sunday's final against the winner of the Japan v Saudi Arabia match.
