Mike Hussey has orchestrated a gritty innings to give Australia the advantage at the conclusion of the second days play. Displaying skill, temperament and fighting qualities, Hussey was immovable until he was the last wicket to fall for the Aussies.
The Australian's started the day at 4/254 with Mike Hussey and Shane Watson at the crease. They looked to be in control until Ishant Sharma gave the Indian's something to cheer about. Watson had been bowled by a delivery that stayed low. It was due reward for Sharma as he was the pick of the bowlers all day.
Just like day one, the Aussies had lost an early wicket and it would take some determined batting to calm the Indian players and fans.
In Steve Waugh like fashion, Hussey and Brad Haddin dug the screws in and swung the advantage back to the visitors. Hussey reached his 9th Test century and is now averaging a ton every five times he walks out to the middle.
After a solid 91 run partnership, Sharma struck again by fooling Haddin(33) with a slower ball. Unfortunately, debutant Cameron White also fell for the same trick after only scoring 6 runs himself.
Brett Lee was able to muster 27 runs and give Hussey some extra support but after Zaheer Kahn rolled through him, Mitchell Johnson and eventually Hussey the Aussies were all out for 430.
Surprisingly, the Indian spinners were only able to get 1 wicket between them with pacemen Zaheer and Sharma picking up the other nine scalps.
India has made a promising start by taking advantage of some over-pitched bowling from the Australians.
Virender Sehwag has started in his trademark aggressive style and Gautam Bambhir has shown glimpses of his reputable perfect timing.
The day finished early due to rain with India at 0/68 from 18.1 overs.
It looked as though Australia were well in control of this fight but their late collapse and India's hefty blows in the last session have turned this back in to a contest.
