Welcome to our new regular Thursday column, Show Us Your Tips - where I put my already dubious reputation on the line and give my tips for the upcoming weekend's games.
AFL
Fremantle v St Kilda (Subiaco, Friday 8:40pm) - Both teams have been disappointing this season, and here's a golden chance for one of them to fight back. At home, Freo should have the edge.
Carlton v Adelaide(Telstra Dome, Saturday 2:10pm) - I'm going for the upset here and tipping Carlton at home. The Crows have had their injury worries this season, and haven't yet been able to click into a premiership combination. The Blues are an improved combination compared to last year, but it's now or never for them if they are to make a serious charge up the ladder.
Hawthorn v West Coast (York Park, Saturday 2:10pm) - West Coast easily. If Hawthorn have to play defensively and can't put a depleted St Kilda away, what hope have they got against the Eagles?
Brisbane v Collingwood (Gabba, Saturday 7:10pm) - Brisbane at home. The Gabba has been a graveyard for the Magpies for many years, and even with the Lions nowhere near the side they were a few years ago, the home ground advantage will see them home.
Richmond v Essendon (MCG, Saturday 7:10pm) - Richmond have had a horrible season, while the Bombers returned to form last week. Essendon easily.
Western Bulldogs v Sydney (Manuka, Sunday 1:10pm) - The Bulldogs have sold their home game to the ACT rather than to the Swans, but the result will be the same. The Dogs will take the cash, but the Swans will easily capture the points in front of a red and white crowd.
Melbourne v Kangaroos (MCG, Sunday 2:10pm) - The Kangaroos have been a surprise packet this season, and the Shinboner spirit is alive and well. It's a contrast to Melbourne, who promised much after last season but have delivered nothing in 2007. That form run will continue - Kangaroos by a huge margin.
Port Adelaide v Geelong (Football Park, Sunday 4:40pm) - The Cats have been the form side in the competition, following their double-century against Richmond up with impressive wins over the highly-fancied Eagles and Dockers. But now they hit the road to take on a Port side desperate for revenge after losing top spot in Sydney last week. Power at home to have the edge and fall over the line in a close one.
NRL
Bulldogs v North Queensland (Lang Park, Friday 7:30pm) - A curious decision by the Bulldogs to schedule this game in neutral territory when they could have got close to 30,000 at Homebush. But it won't worry them on the field, as they will have little trouble putting the out-of-form Cowboys away.
Canberra v St George/Illawarra (Bruce Stadium, Friday 7:30pm) - Canberra have been a surprise packet, and have surprised a few sides at home under lights this season. The Dragons will find themselves as the Raiders' next home scalp.
Manly v Melbourne (Brookvale Oval, Saturday 5:30pm) - An appetising top-of-the-table clash, which should have been scheduled for a FTA TV screening time. Manly have the home ground advantage, but with the Origin starts returning the Storm will take the points.
Cronulla v Roosters (Shark Park, Saturday 7:30pm) - The Roosters' shocker of a season will continue here, as the Sharks to do a demolition job. Brett Kimmorley to put in a blinder in the hope of regaining an Origin place.
Gold Coast v South Sydney (Carrara Oval, Saturday 7:30pm) - Both sides started the season strongly but have lost form in recent weeks. Here is a golden chance to get the season back on track - and with the home ground advantage, it will be the Titans who take the opportunity.
Brisbane v Newcastle (Lang Park, Sunday 2pm) - The Broncos have been a major disappointment this season, and it's now or never if they are going to salvage anything from 2007. The one big-name team they have beaten is the Knights, and with their Origin players backing up will repeat the dose at home. Broncos to win.
Penrith v Wests Tigers (Penrith Stadium, Sunday 3pm) - Neither team inspire me with confidence, but I'll tip the Panthers at home.
Parramatta v NZ Warriors (Parramatta Stadium, Monday 7pm) - The Eels have hit some form at last, with an impressive 44-14 result over the Cowboys last week to keep in touch with the top 8. It's time for the Eels to make their move, and they shouldn't have any trouble against the Warriors in this one.
