After 2 dismal losses in Melbourne, the Swans returned to Sydney to take on ladder-leaders Port Adelaide. The Power came into the game in impressive form, but all that was to go out the window under the warm Sydney sunshine at the SCG.
The Swans made the early front-running, with a 6-goal opening quarter. From there on, Port were always going to play catch-up football; although for a few fleeting moments in the last term they were just a chance to sneak their way back into the contest. The Power had cut the margin to just 23 points with plenty of time on the clock, but a downfield run by Nick Malceski set up Michael O'Loughlin to put the result beyond doubt.
